Bratwurst (German: [ˈbʁaːtvʊɐ̯st] ()) is a type of German sausage made from veal beef or most commonly pork.The name is derived from the Old High German Brätwurst from brät- finely chopped meat and Wurst sausage although in modern German it is often associated with the verb braten to pan fry or roast.
Place your sausages in a large pot and cover with water. The pot should not be more than three quarters of the way filled. Bring the water and brats to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Let simmer for 10 minutes. You can boil and simmer the liquid and brats either inside on a stovetop or outside over a grill.
